Peter Dozier, MD (Children's Specialty Group)

Division of Child Psychiatry

Dr. Peter Dozier recently joined the Department as Director of the Division of Child Psychiatry. Dr. Dozier comes to us from Johnstown, Pennsylvania where he was Medical Director of the Aloysia Hall Child Psychiatric Inpatient Unit and Outpatient Child Services, and Director of Medical Education in the Department of Behavioral Medicine at Memorial Medical Center.

His extensive professional career includes many years of private practice in outpatient psychiatry, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults, and numerous positions as Consulting Child Psychiatrist. Dr. Dozier earned his M.D. degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School where he also completed residencies in Pediatrics and General Psychiatry. He then completed a Clinical Fellowship in Child Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and served as Chief Resident.

Stephen E. Shaffer, MD (Children's Specialty Group)

Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition

Dr. Shaffer comes to our Department this month from the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware, where he served as Chief for the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition. Dr. Shaffer received his MD degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo.

He completed his Residency and Internship in Pediatrics at the Medical Center of Delaware and Alfred I. DuPont Institute. He served as a Clinical Fellow in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also completed a Research Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.

Dr. Shaffer has been involved in research in various areas of his specialty, including chronic Helicobacter mustelae gastritis, inflammatory bowel disease, cognitive therapy in recurrent abdominal pain syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and ulcerative colitis.
