Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Division Members:
Our physicians are all board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology, and each has completed additional training in pediatric hematology/oncology.
Information about the Division:
The hematology/oncology physicians provide a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic and comprehensive care services for infants, children and adolescents with blood disorders or malignancies. In addition, the division offers special multispecialty comprehensive programs for patients under 21 years of age with sickle cell disease, bleeding or clotting disorders, brain tumors and survivors of childhood cancer. The division members are active participants in the Children’s Oncology Group, an international organization dedicated to the discovery of optimal treatments for childhood cancer. The Bleeding Disorders Center of Hampton Roads is a part of the network of federally funded hemophilia treatment centers.
The Hem/Onc outpatient facility has been designed to meet the diverse needs of children and adolescents undergoing treatment for cancer and blood diseases. Included are many treatment rooms with televisions and video games, a dedicated pharmacy, a patient/family education room, numerous child-life activities and support and many other features. In addition to the physicians, the facility is staffed with a superb group of dedicated nurses, social workers, medical assistants, pharmacists, child life specialists, educational specialists, and administrators.
